Company Debit Returns
A company debit return is when the ACH debit to cover a company’s payroll run does not fully settle with Zeal. The most common reason is when there are not sufficient funds (NSF) in the company’s bank account. This will cause the company’s custody account to be locked until funds are recovered.
**All payroll processing for the employer will be suspended until the funds are recovered.**
After Zeal is notified of the return by our processor, the responsible party will be contacted via a support ticket with information on the return and request confirmation that there are sufficient funds - or the issue with the funding account has been resolved - to re-initiate the company debit to make the custody account balance whole again.
In the event another return occurs on the re-initiated company debit, Zeal will contact the responsible party with instructions on how to send a wire transfer to cover the loss. In these instructions there will be account details (example below) to be used that are specific to the responsible company.
Account detail instructions:
Amount (company debit)
Account number
Routing number
Recipient name (should always be the sending company, not the partner or Zeal)
Recipient address (should always be sending company’s address, not the partner or Zeal)
Zeal, at its sole discretion, may suspend or terminate a company if too many returned company debits occur over a given period of time. See our Returns Policy for more information.
