The Custom Paperwork feature in Zeal allows admins to create and manage additional, bespoke custom paperwork requirement that your workers need to acknowledged/complete during or outside of their onboarding into Zeal. Custom Paperwork can be applied to both Employees as well as Contractors.

Creating Custom Paperwork Templates
Navigate to the Paperwork tab to view, create, and edit paperwork templates.
Paperwork Details
- Paperwork Name: Enter a descriptive name for the paperwork. (Note: This cannot be changed after the start date.)
- Description: Optional field to add more context, visible to workers.
- Effective Start Date: The date the paperwork becomes active.
- Effective End Date (Optional): Specify when the paperwork should expire.
Setting Recipients
Define who should receive this paperwork during onboarding:
- Worker Type: Choose between Employee, Contractor, or All.
- Jurisdiction: Select specific locations where this paperwork is applicable.
- Jurisdiction Type: Filter by WorkLocation, Residency, or All.
- Custom Attributes: Created Custom Attributes can be added as rulesets to further narrow scope of the worker who needs to view and execute the paperwork. Refer to Zeal's Help Article on Custom Attributes to set those up.
Template Editor
Design the paperwork template with customizable fields:
- Add text, signature fields, date inputs, checkboxes, and more.
- Easily drag and drop elements to structure the document as needed.
- Ensure necessary fields like Name, Date, and Signature are included for compliance.
Review and Finish
- Confirm all details, including the paperwork name, recipients, and template content.
- Once satisfied, click Submit to finalize the paperwork.
- The paperwork will now be available for workers to complete during their onboarding flow.
Editing Existing Custom Paperwork Templates
Click the pencil icon next to any active paperwork to make changes (where permitted).
Note: Some fields, like the paperwork name and start date, cannot be edited after activation.
Worker Onboarding Flow
- Prompted in Onboarding: Workers will see the assigned paperwork during onboarding based on the recipient rules within the Paperwork section.
- Filling Out Paperwork: They can easily fill out, sign, and submit the paperwork directly within the onboarding interface.
Customer Paperwork as Shareable Links

Prompted as-Needed: Outside of their onboarding, workers can be sent assigned paperwork based on the recipient rules. This can done to meet any pre- or post- onboarding needs.
- The link can be shared with a Secure URL or directly to their email on-file.
Viewing Completed Paperwork
The worker's completed paperwork can then be viewed under the Paperwork section of their profile page.
