Zeal partners with trusted benefits providers to help streamline benefits administration for your workforce. Through these partnerships, you can offer employees health benefits and 401(k) plans — all integrated within the Zeal platform for easy payroll deductions and visibility.
Overview of Benefits Types
Zeal supports two primary benefits categories, both completely managed through the following partners:
- Health Benefits – Managed through EVCO, a broker-partner
- 401(k) Retirement Plans – Managed through 401Go
Each has its own setup process and integration with Zeal’s payroll system.
Health Benefits with EVCO
Zeal partners with EVCO, a licensed benefits broker, to provide comprehensive health benefits to your employees. This includes open enrollment, deduction template management, and COBRA eligibility. EVCO provides options to roll over any existing health insurance plan or to update plans for cheaper options.
Note: EVCO can also set you up with transit benefits.
Getting Started with EVCO
Zeal can introduce you to EVCO so they can learn about your organization’s needs and recommend benefit plans and quotes tailored for your workforce. Once your plan is selected, employees will manage their benefits enrollment directly through EVCO.
Benefits Eligibility
In Zeal, employee benefit eligibility is determined by a Benefits Class field, which is stored in each worker’s profile.
Your list of Benefits Class may differ but common benefits classes include:
- Full-Time
- Part-Time
- Executive
- Ineligible (default if no Benefits Class is provided)
When a worker is marked as a possible eligible Benefits Class (Executive, Full-Time, or Part-Time), they will receive a Health Insurance acknowledgment during their onboarding process.
Once they become Eligible, they are notified for enrollment with an email from EVCO for account creation and instructions. The Employee logs into EVCO to make their benefit selections and once enrolled EVCO automatically sets up active employee deductions in Zeal.
These deductions appear on payroll checks for each pay period, ensuring accurate withholding for benefits.
Any updates to eligibility (e.g., a worker moving from part-time to full-time) are handled by EVCO and reflected automatically in Zeal.
Employees no longer Eligible for Benefits
Once an Employee moves from an eligible benefits status to ineligible, their benefits deductions will no longer be active for payroll and they will receive information on COBRA continuation options for benefits.
You are able to view and manage benefit deductions by navigating to:
- Pay -> Run Payroll -> Manage deductions
401(k) Retirement Benefits with 401Go
Zeal partners with 401Go to provide retirement savings plans for your employees. 401GO offers competitive pricing on its management and 401K Deductions are fully handled by the 401GO team.
Setting Up with 401Go
Zeal can introduce your company to the 401Go team to learn more about your use case and to determine best plan options. Once connected, your employees can enroll and configure their 401(k) contributions directly through 401Go’s platform.
Payroll Integration and Deductions
Once an employee sets up their 401(k) plan, 401Go automatically creates a 401(k) deduction for that worker in Zeal.
All 401(k) deductions are managed through an API integration between Zeal and 401Go — ensuring contribution accuracy.
Zeal reflects these deductions in payroll, but 401Go handles the actual contribution transfers (debits) directly.
Viewing Deductions in Zeal
You can view and manage all benefit-related deductions (Health, Transit, 401K, etc.) within Zeal:
This is managed via Pay → Run Payroll → Manage Deductions.
You can view deductions by their type:
- 401(k) deductions
- Health benefit deductions (e.g., Section 125 or other pre-tax benefits)
You are able to review and edit deductions as needed. You can also review deductions directly on employee paychecks to confirm contributions are being correctly applied.
Summary
Zeal partners with EVCO for Health and Transit Benefits and 401Go for 401(k) Retirement Plans.
All benefit deductions (set up and changes) are managed by these partners.
Zeal’s benefits partnerships ensure your workforce has access to high-quality benefits — while simplifying payroll and deduction management for your team.
